UPDATE – Big Data Week – May 5-11 – 30+ Cities Worldwide including Missoula!

Caitlin Copple, Eric Franzon, Jason Wiener, Melanie Brock, Eric Tangedahl and Russ Fletcher just finished the first organizational meeting in Missoula and already have multiple events on each day starting with the First Annual Montana Cyber Triathlon on April 12.

The tentative schedule includes many 5 minute lightening presentations on data topics, Big Data demonstrations from University students, Big Data for Dummies, Live fire security demonstrations, A CIA Big Data talk (but you won’t be able to talk about it – what happens in the CIA, stays in the CIA), Semantic Web Standards and a visual analysis performance using little data…. We’re confident that other presentations will also be scheduled.

I had thought that this could be a multi-city/multi-day event but the amount of interest in Missoula is amazing.

I would like to encourage other Montana communities to collaborate on events in your community. You’ll be surprised by the number of individuals and companies involved in data.

Hopefully all of the events can be recorded and an archive of the expertise and opportunities throughout Montana can be combined in a single site to promote expertise and opportunities.

The goal is to make people more aware of the many faces of Big Data in Montana including data warehouses, security, data analysis, data management and how all of these can be critical to a successful organization.
