SolarCity hopes Best Buy partnership will boost business

A Best Buy shopper looking for something as routine as an iPhone case may ultimately leave the store with something more ambitious: solar power.

SolarCity, the San Mateo company chaired by billionaire Elon Musk, has struck a partnership with the consumer electronics chain to sell rooftop solar panels through kiosks at 60 Best Buy stores across the country, including seven in the Bay Area.
