She++ video library seeks to encourage women in computer science

Sometimes all it takes is a friendly (and familiar) face.

She++ http://sheplusplus.stanford.edu/ , a Stanford-based community for women in computer science, launched on Wednesday a video library of interviews with local women in tech. The group already hosts conferences to encourage female students in computer science, but hope that videos can reach a wider audience.

"There wasn’t very much video content online that showcased the diversity of people in computer science, especially women," said Priya Ganesan, a Stanford freshman and a group spokeswoman. "We felt that was important for young girls to see role models who are the same gender as them, so they can see programming isn’t just for boys and nerds. There are cool women just like me doing amazing things with technology."
