New group touts economic impact of cyclists in Bitterroot Valley

Representatives from a broad cross-section of Bitterroot Valley interests gathered at the fairgrounds last week to hear about a means to spur the 21st century economy – a means with roots in the 19th century.

Bicycling was the topic, and interested parties from Stevensville to Darby, and from Main Street retailers to local breweries, came to hear how two-wheeled, human-powered transport could move bottom lines from red to black.

The event was organized in part by the Ravalli Republic, which plans to publish a cycling-centric magazine in April, but they were abetted by the Adventure Cycling Association http://www.adventurecycling.org/ , the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID), and local cycling experts.
