Triangle Announces New Connected Community Challenge

As part of its commitment to strengthening rural communities, Triangle Communications (Triangle) has created a new Connected Community Challenge program.

Two communities from within Triangle’s service area will be selected to participate in the Challenge in 2014. The two successful applicants will receive a $2,500 grant which must be used to implement projects outlined in a local Broadband Action Plan developed as part of the Challenge process.

Anne Boothe, Triangle’s Economic Development Specialist, describes why Triangle is so excited about this new program, "Broadband can be an incredible Economic Development opportunity for our communities.

Individuals and Businesses are using technology to overcome distance and geography in choosing where they want to live, work and play. Triangle is excited to offer this unique opportunity and looks forward to working closely with the selected community’s as we work to leverage the value of Broadband and seek to increase their vitality of these communities in a connected world."

Eligible applicants include recognized non-profits (including Chambers of Commerce or Economic Developments entities), municipal and Tribal organizations. Applications are available online at http://www.itsTriangle.com under the Economic Development tab. The deadline to submit is 5:00 PM, Thursday, March 6, 2014.
