Missoula hosts city budget planning exercise

Missoula hosted its first ever budget game on the University of Montana Campus on Tuesday night. Councilwoman Caitlin Copple said there was no prize, but the reward was learning about budget planning.
Participants were split into teams, given a budget, a list of funding proposals, and the option to make potential cuts. Just like city leaders.

Missoula residents try hand at city finances in ‘budget games’
On Tuesday, an estimated 100 people attended an interactive games designed to solicit creative ideas on the city budget and shed light on residents’ priorities. City Councilwoman Caitlin Copple worked to bring the Every Voice Engaged Foundation’s games to Missoula because few people ever comment on the city budget.
