Butte, Montana wins new tax dist. OK; Should mean millions of dollars for local development projects

State regulators have approved Butte’s request for a new tax-increment financing district for Uptown and adjacent neighborhoods, a move that should eventually steer tens of millions of tax dollars into area development.
The Montana Department of Revenue informed Butte-Silver Bow leaders Friday they can proceed with their new urban renewal area and TIF district. The current district, in place since 1980, expires this June.
