Chief executive Matt Vincent, others pushing Butte as a manufacturing hub

The MDT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program encourages and supports the participation of companies owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in transportation contracts.

Butte-Silver Bow Chief Executive Matt Vincent is in Washington, D.C. to meet with other mayors and hopefully bolster Butte’s chances of landing a federally funded manufacturing hub.

Vincent flew to D.C. Tuesday to attend a U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting about issues such as financial responsibility, entrepreneurship and technology innovation. Vincent said there are lots of ideas other cities can offer, and Butte can offer them. He is only city leader from Montana going.

But for the second time in the past month, Vincent will meet with federal officials about enhancing manufacturing and an initiative by President Obama to create at least 15 National Network Manufacturing Innovation Centers across the country.
