Missoula ranked 5th for density of high-tech startups

The MDT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program encourages and supports the participation of companies owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in transportation contracts.

Cyber labs, big data and applied research have become the latest buzzwords around the University of Montana campus, helping land Missoula high atop the list of small metros claiming the greatest density of high-tech startups.

In a recent report http://www.kauffman.org/what-we-do/research/2013/09/pathdependent-startup-hubs-comparing-metropolitan-performance-hightech-and-ict-startup-density , the Kauffman Foundation ranked Missoula fifth among cities with a population of less than 250,000 for its number of high-tech launches.
