Study finds Montana lacking in jobs that pay a living wage

A yearly report that tracks the ‘Job Gap’ in Montana http://montanaorganizingproject.org/2013/12/jobgap2013/ says prospects for earning a living wage are dim. According to the report, low wage employment leaves workers in Montana without the ability to provide for themselves and their families.

Five speakers from the community talked about the financial problems they see Montanan’s facing.

Montana’s total employment is dominated by low-wage and part time industries. The 2013 job gap study released Tuesday by the Montana organizing project examines what workers need to earn in a full-time job for their families to make ends meet. According to the report a living wage job in Montana for a single adult is $13.92.
