City of Missoula to remove, replace 1,200 high-risk trees
December 2, 2013 /
Maple trees lining the streets in two Missoula neighborhoods will be removed in phases and replaced with new trees in the coming weeks, just as the city looks to bring more trees to other parts of town.
Chris Boza, the city’s urban forester, said the work to replace high-risk trees in the University District and Slant Street neighborhoods will begin in early December and last several weeks.
"About 1,200 of those trees are what we’d consider high-risk," said Boza. "To manage that risk, those trees need to be removed."
