Montana Family Medicine Residency programs attracts record number of applicants
November 19, 2013 /
An unprecedented number of young doctors — more than 920 from all over the globe — have applied for one of eight spots in the Montana Family Residency Program at RiverStone Health http://www.riverstonehealth.org/EducationResearch/MontanaFamilyMedicineResidency/tabid/99/Default.aspx .
The spike is due primarily to health care reform, said Dr. Roxanne Fahrenwald, program director.
"For our health care system to continue to evolve and become the health care system we’re going to need under the Affordable Care Act, we’re going to need a much larger base of primary-care physicians, specifically family physicians," she said.
