Inspiration–Education–Execution—–Ruralistically Newsletter

American Rural is less than a year old and we’ve already made amazing progress.

We have grown to over 5500 followers on Facebook, begun fundraising, initiated our newsletter (Ruralistically), hosted our first webinar, and continued our research and writing about the wonderful future we see for rural and small town America. I’ve also been on the road. A lot. Speaking before numerous audiences and having meetings and great conversations with residents and champions of rural and small town America. We are making real progress.

Over the course of this past year, my main focus was on listening. I am committed to learning what it is that we need to be the most effective champions possible for our small town and rural backyards and, in order to do this, listening was key.

What I "heard" was that we believe in the potential of ourselves, our children, friends and neighbors. We believe that we can help America grow and be part of the next generation of prosperity and innovation across our great Nation. We want to harness the power of technology to ensure that we have the same access to information and opportunities as our urban and suburban neighbors. And we want to be part of smart, efficient solutions that move our communities forward.

That’s how we came up with the American Rural mission: Inspiration, Education, and Execution. We hope to inspire rural and small town residents who want to be part of the 21st century opportunity equation that’s changing our healthcare, education, commerce, lifestyles and government. We will be a source of education that’s helpful in rural and small town America’s efforts to achieve and excel. We will execute by continuing to set milestones and checking the boxes day after day in a variety of ways, including developing white papers, webinars, advocacy, small business and entrepreneurship support, and more.

Thank you for your support in our first year. Across America, we have witnessed up close the brilliance, creativity, and dedication of so many of you who live with us in rural and small town America. There is an old African saying, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." We have journeyed thus far mostly on our own purely for speed, but it’s time now for us to go far. We are so lucky to get to go with such extraordinary teammates and friends.

We are, always, humbled and inspired by you! Thank you.
