Ideas bandied about for renewal efforts; Zip-lines in Uptown Butte?
MATR Sponsor (view all)
Residents and officials offered more suggestions Tuesday for establishing a new urban renewal area and special taxing district for Uptown, and there was unspoken agreement it can be so much more than it is now.
But as for what needs to happen first to draw more people, new development and the new tax dollars they would bring — well, that debate is wide open.
Recommendations took aim at making Butte a bigger tourist draw, perhaps through uniform street lighting or maybe even zip-lines — aerial rope slides — coming off old mining sites.
People said vibrancy is mostly tied to more businesses and jobs.
