2014 Competitive AmeriCorps State Funding Opportunity

The Montana Governor’s Office of Community Service announces the 2014 Competitive AmeriCorps State grant opportunity. http://www.serve.mt.gov
These grants are federally funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service through the Montana Governor’s Office of Community Service. The Montana Commission on Community Service serves as the body to recommend funding to the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Competitive AmeriCorps State grants are awarded to organizations proposing to engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based interventions to strengthen communities. An AmeriCorps member is an individual who engages in community service through an approved national service position. Members may receive a living allowance and other benefits while serving. Upon successful completion of their service members receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award from the National Service Trust.
AmeriCorps funds are targeted to the following focus areas: Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environmental Stewardship, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families.
Organizations eligible for funding include:
Public or private nonprofit organizations
Faith-based and other community organizations
Institutions of higher education
Government entities within states or territories (e.g., cities, counties)
Indian Tribes
Labor organizations
Partnerships or consortia
Intermediaries planning to subgrant funds
Key Dates:
October 7- Request for Proposal Posted, Technical Assistance Period Begins
October 15- Technical Assistance Call
October 16- Letter of Intent and Pre-Application Documents Due
November 12- Application and all documentation due
December 9- Grant Review Workgroup Meeting
December 16- Commission meeting on funding recommendations
Spring 2014- Applicants Notified of Funding Decisions
