Computer education wanes; Educators: Additional, earlier programming classes could put Montana kids in good jobs – Code Montana aims to train more young programmers

There is "real opportunity for Montana students to be able to set themselves up to have high-paying stimulating jobs in computer science in the state of Montana," said John Paxton, head of the computer science department at Montana State University. "We have to try to interest more high school students to pursue a computer science as a major."

Code Montana http://www.codemontana.org/ aims to train more young programmers

If more Montana students pursued a computer science degree, programming jobs paying $45,000 to $80,000 a year could go to "our kids right out of school," said Greg Gianforte after announcing his free Code Montana program for high-school students last month.
