Aerial firefighting company cancels move to Casper, Wyoming

Casper will not be the new home for the 10 Tanker Air Carrier business after all, due partly to the company’s recent success in getting a long-term U.S. Forest Service contract.

The company had planned to move 16 employees and its two DC-10 aircraft to the Casper/Natrona County International Airport this year while building a permanent building at the airport. But a revamped, more detailed financial analysis convinced the company that the costs of keeping its hoped-for larger fleet in colder weather during the storage and repair months of the year outweighed the advantages of Wyoming’s low-tax business climate.
