States revive preschool funding as economies recover

Advocates of more preschool access say it leads to long-term societal benefits, such as reduced crime rates and higher tax payments. For every dollar invested in prekindergarten, up to $16 can be returned, says Rob Grunewald, an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.

There’s a lot of ground to make up.
