Idaho, Let Hollister Be a Wake-Up Call – We shouldn’t pave the way for new business by steamrolling Idahoans.
Idaho should see what is happening to the 272 residents of Hollister as a wake up call.
It’s good to move "at the speed of business," as Governor Otter is fond of saying. We’re making great strides to be business-friendly — making sure our water treatment facilities are efficient and have capacity to bring wet industry online, seeding a state "Opportunity Fund" to make the winning bid for business relocation and making sure our permitting processes are streamlined.
It will pay off in the coming decades as Idaho and the Magic Valley attract large companies and the jobs those companies bring.
But we shouldn’t pave the way for new business by steamrolling Idahoans.
