$1.5M grant adds fire to welding program at Great Falls College-Montana State University

Gov. Steve Bullock said Monday that Great Falls College-Montana State University http://www.msugf.edu/ has received a nearly $1.5 million federal Economic Development Administration grant to boost its welding program and help area residents fill the growing demand for good-paying jobs.

Bullock said local legislators and officials with ADF Group http://www.adfgroup.com/ , the Canadian company proposing a big steel fabrication and assembly plant just north of Great Falls, expressed concerns early this year that the college might not be able to meet the growing demand for certified welders. His economic development team, with help from legislators, the college officials and the Great Falls Development Authority http://www.gfdevelopment.org/ , kicked into action by applying for the grant money, he said.
