Montana Tech keeping pace, growing, maturing

Montana Tech https://www.mtech.edu/ considered itself one of the premier small schools for science, technology and engineering in the country even before receiving approval for a Ph.D. program in materials science earlier this year.

Tech’s School of Mines and Engineering offers nine majors, including Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

The school also offers degrees that can’t be found at many universities. For instance, it is one of only two U.S. schools to offer a bachelor of science degree in geophysical engineering and one of 19 offering a B.S. in petroleum engineering. In an interview in May with The Montana Standard, Chancellor Don Blackketter said Montana Tech took a major step forward by gaining the Ph.D. program, especially since it allows Tech to keep pace with its peers.
