MAPS program receives $20,000 in grants to continue focusing on educating the next generation of filmmakers.

MAPS Media Institute http://www.mapsmediainstitute.org/ recently received $20,000 in grants from various foundations for their continued focus on educating the next generation of filmmakers.

Founder and president Peter Rosten said the grants continue to help MAPS Media Institute thrive.

MAPS was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the Academy of Motion Pictures.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science grants coordinator Shawn Guthrie said they look for programs where the participants can eventually participate in the filmmaking process on their own or as a career.

He said this was the first year they reintroduced youth programs into the mix.
