Bull Mountain Coal mine may resume operations

BILLINGS (AP) — The closed Bull Mountain coal mine could be working again by March, and production could hit about 25,000 tons in the first two months of operation, project manager Mike Bradford days.

By the AP

"We hope to increase that up to 75,000 to 80,000 tons a month within eight months," Bradford said. "By December we should be mining 500,000 to 600,000 tons a year."

Bradford also said 25 miners have been hired and are being trained. He said a well to monitor groundwater and a waste disposal site must still be completed. The mine is in the Bull Mountains 16 miles south of Roundup.
