Robert Minto, Founder of Missoula firm ALPS steps into new role

Robert Minto is ready for a new adventure.

So the founder of ALPS Corp. is taking on a new role at the company he founded in Missoula 25 years ago. It’s not retirement or even semi-retirement.

"It’s a new adventure," he said.

The ALPS https://www.alpsnet.com/ board voted in May to promote David Bell, who came on as president and chief operating officer in May 2012, to president and chief executive officer.

Minto will remain as a working executive chair of the board.

It was a difficult step, Minto said, but the best decision he could make for the company he sees as poised for growth.

"I told my board, I’m not ready to retire, I don’t really want to give up this job, but it’s time for the company to give me up for David," Minto said. "He’s really the next generation of leader. He’s the leader we need."
