Business Oregon proposes overhaul of multi-million dollar tax credits that helped woo SoloPower, SolarWorld

Oregon’s economic development arm is angling for more freedom to extend millions of dollars in tax credits to manufacturers, even as the program’s two highest-profile companies struggle to survive.

The proposed overhaul is so far-reaching that it would change the program’s name and shift the focus from its original intent: to finance Oregon’s green manufacturing ambitions. It would also halve the money pool to $100 million every two years

Business Oregon outlined the proposed changes days after the announced shutdown of SoloPower’s Portland plant, backed by a $20 million manufacturing Business Energy Tax Credit.
