Unlike UM, MSU sees continuing rise in budget – Universities may switch roles of which is larger

The Bobcats have money to spend, after a Montana State University expenditure report shows that the university has more than $165 million budgeted for the 2013 fiscal year.

With a roughly 9 percent increase from 2012, many departments at MSU saw an increase in their allotted budgets this school year. MSU officials believe next year’s budget should grow as well.

This is a sharp contrast from the future budget of the University of Montana. As the financial predictions come forward for next year’s budget, several UM departments are preparing for budget cuts as large as 8 percent.
