SB-282 ELIMINATES A TAX REBATE and kills any chance we have in landing movie projects to be shot in Montana.

SB 282 has passed the Senate and is making its way through the House. It has a hearing on Friday April 12th. HB 581 has passed third reading and is headed to Senate. Contained in these taxation bills is an elimination of the Big Sky on the Big Screen Act. This is an incentive paid to filmmakers that choose Montana to film in.

It is absolutely necessary to even be the least bit competitive in the marketplace of filmmaking in the country.

Currently the incentive gives 9% rebate back on expenditures in Montana businesses and 14% rebate on Montanans hired for shoots on State taxes. This small incentive rates 34th out of 36 states that offer incentives barely keeping Montana in the game.

SB-282 ELIMINATES THIS TAX REBATE and kills any chance we have in landing movie projects to be shot in Montana. This tax rebate costs the state pittance in actual dollars out and is paid out only when the production companies dump money into local economies and hire Montanans.

Montana universities are pumping out film and video professionals that have to leave the state to make a living.

Please let your state legislatures know you want this OUT OF SB-282 and HB-581.
