A Renewed Effort to Invigorate Technology Transfer at Idaho National Laboratory

Steve McMaster carries the professional title of director of technology deployment at Idaho National Laboratory http://www.inl.gov , so that is how most people identify him. But at heart, McMaster is a family man, and it is his love for his children and grandchildren, and what he wants for their future that, in part, makes him passionate about what he does at the office.

McMaster says his goal since becoming involved with technology transfer in the 1990s at Utah State University has been to have a positive impact on society. Though he started work there as an in-house attorney, he later became the school’s director of purchasing and got introduced to tech transfer through the university’s program.

Once involved, he was hooked, wanting greater opportunities to create more businesses, more jobs and ultimately increase the United States’ economic and scientific competitiveness on a global scale.
