Former Export-Import Bank official Wayne Gardella is new director of Montana SBA

Wayne Gardella, 55, began vacationing in Montana in 2000 to enjoy the state’s great outdoor recreational opportunities.

An official with the Export-Import Bank of the United States at the time, Gardella said started including business with his Montana trips.

"I would come and vacation and then stay and do business, working with exporters and do some financing seminars," said Gardella, who grew up in Central and South America and later Washington, D.C., the son of a U.S. State Department official.

"There are a lot of exporters in Montana," he said. "Of course, the grain exports and the ag side are huge. There’s technology exports, especially from the Gallatin County area, the Right Nows of the world."
