Annual Case Study Proposal

Who we are: The Nonprofit Leadership Student Association (NLSA) is a University of Montana student group whose mission is to provide students with specialized skills and knowledge to work in the nonprofit sector. Each year NLSA members focus on a handful of components related to nonprofits; these components include, but are not limited to fundraising, workshops, community service and a case study.

What we are requesting: NLSA is looking for the opportunity to help a local nonprofit with a specific concern they currently face. Each year we partner with a local nonprofit and provide our skills and knowledge free of cost in order to better that nonprofit in any way we can. We have a dedicated group of students who will soon be Certified Nonprofit Professionals and are eager to apply their expertise to benefit a nonprofit and the community.

The chosen nonprofit will be notified by February 28th, 2013.

What you can expect: NLSA will begin the case study on Thursday, February 28th and will be ready to present their suggestions to the nonprofit by Thursday, March 28th. The first two meetings will be dedicated to brainstorming and sharing ideas. At the third meeting NLSA members will create a rough draft document of their suggestions. During the fourth meeting members will finalize their written document and create a PowerPoint presentation. On March 28th NLSA will present their suggestions in a written document and PowerPoint presentation to the nonprofit organization.

What we expect: NLSA takes each case study very seriously. We dedicate five weeks/meetings of our spring semester to assist a nonprofit organization and we expect that the nonprofit will also dedicate the needed time in order for the case study to be as successful as possible. At very least we ask you to be available on March 28th from 5:30-6:30pm when we present our suggestions in a PowerPoint. We recommend having someone from your organization available on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm during the month of March in case we have questions about the concern we are addressing or your organization in general.
