Montana State University to host Mount Everest workshop for teachers on Feb. 20

Montana State University will host a free workshop for K-8 teachers on Wednesday, Feb. 20 called "Mount Everest and Montana: Connecting the Science of the Himalayas to the Northern Rockies."

The workshop includes an overview of a curriculum that covers science, research and math related to Mount Everest and the Himalayas. Conrad Anker, who climbed Mount Everest last year as part of the Everest Education Expedition, will be on hand to introduce the curriculum and share his experiences.

The lesson plans, which are available online at http://www.montana.edu/Everest, cover climate science, geology, human physiology, wildlife and other related topics. The workshop organizers will demonstrate classroom activities that feature time-lapse photography, weather and climate, alpine glacial landforms, and others.
