MCPS trustees to take up levy, vacancy; Apostle raise likely topic
It’s going to be a particularly busy few weeks for the Missoula County Public Schools Board of Trustees – starting this week.
A special board meeting has been called for 6 p.m. Thursday 2/7 to discuss the technology levy that is proposed for the May 7 school election.
Cutthroat Communications, which won the district’s bid for technology improvements, will update the board on the plan, said board chairman Toni Rehbein.

• Tuesday, Feb. 12, 6 p.m.: Regularly scheduled board meeting. Meeting usually is held at MCPS Buisness Building boardroom, but may be moved to Sentinel High School, 901 South Ave. W., to accommodate the large number of people who are planning to speak during the public comment period in response to the board’s decision in January to give Superintendent Alex Apostle a 13 percent raise.
• Tuesday, Feb. 19, 6 p.m.: Board of Trustees meet in the Business Building boardroom to interview board candidates to fill the seat left open by Adam Duerk’s resignation. The board will choose the new trustee that evening.
• Wednesday, Feb. 20: Trustees go to Helena to lobby for Senate Bill 175, which if passed, would increase state funding to districts to pay for teacher raises.
