Now hiring: With economic recovery, Montana job market friendlier to workers
January 27, 2013 /
You wouldn’t know it by the more than 500 applicants competing for 117 jobs at the soon-to-reopen Northern Hotel, but the job market in Yellowstone County is starting to favor workers.
December’s unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in the county, about half the national rate.
Billings Job Service has as many as 900 job postings with some companies hiring multiple people, said manager Ryan Van Ballegooyen.
"It’s really safe to say we have more job openings than active job seekers," he said.
