Governor Steve Bullock’s State Of The State Address To Broadcast Statewide 1/30

Montana public television and radio stations will broadcast live, anchored coverage of Montana Gov. Steve Bullock’s http://governor.mt.gov/governor.aspx State of the State Address and the Republican Response beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30.

The coverage, originating from the House Chambers of the State Capitol in Helena, will be available on MontanaPBS, Montana Public Radio and Yellowstone Public Radio. It also will be streamed live at http://www.montanapublicmedia.org/.

The Montana Constitution (Article 6, Section 9) requires the governor to "give the Legislature information and recommend measures he considers necessary." The State of the State Address is the traditional method used by the administration to lay out its priorities and goals for the legislative session.

The governor’s address will be followed by a response from Republican leadership. Both Montana Public Radio and MontanaPBS will provide analysis of the governor’s speech and the Republican response.

Bullock, a democrat, was elected in November to replace former Gov. Brian Schweitzer, also a democrat. Schweitzer served as governor since 2005.

For more information on the anchored coverage, call William Marcus, director for The University of Montana Broadcast Media Center, at 406-243-4154 or email [email protected]. People also can call Aaron Pruitt, director of content for MontanaPBS at Montana State University, at 406-994-5021 or email [email protected].
