Senator Baucus and Senator Tester Congratulate New Bonneville Power Authority Administrator and University of Montana Graduate Bill Drummond

Montana’s senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus applauded the news University of Montana graduate and former manager of the Western Montana Electric Generating and Transmission Cooperative, Bill Drummond, will take the helm of the Bonneville Power Administration.

"Montana jobs and an affordable energy supply are linked to the Bonneville Power Administration’s work in the region. Bill’s understanding of Montana’s unique energy needs will be a boost to BPA’s ability to better serve Montana’s rural electric cooperatives, small businesses and customers, and the growing energy industry in Montana" said Baucus.

Bill Drummond has served as BPA’s deputy administrator since October 2011. He has a forestry degree from the University of Montana and an economics degree from the University of Arizona. The Bonneville Power Administration is a federal agency created by Congress in 1937 to deliver, market and sell power from the Bonneville Dam. One third of the power consumed in the Pacific Northwest comes from BPA.

Senator encourages UM graduate Bill Drummond to stand up for Montana jobs

Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement congratulating UM graduate Bill Drummond on becoming the new administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration:

“For a decade Bill and I have worked together to solve power and water issues critically important to Montanans. I am excited to see such a dedicated public servant who understands Montana in a position to make decisions about our energy future, and I look forward to working with Bill as BPA’s new administrator.”

Drummond has served as BPA’s deputy administrator since 2011. He earned a forestry degree from the University of Montana and managed the Western Montana Electric Generating and Transmission Cooperative in Missoula for 17 years.

The Bonneville Power Administration is a federal agency created by Congress in 1937 to deliver, market and sell power from the Bonneville Dam. One-third of the power consumed in the Pacific Northwest comes from the BPA.
