Montana’s schools superintendent Juneau outlines Office of Public Instruction goals for next Legislature

Office of Public Instruction Superintendent Denise Juneau unveiled an ambitious legislative agenda to education supporters in Great Falls on Thursday afternoon, but admitted it’s going to be a tough sell in the Republican-controlled Montana Legislature in 2013.

Juneau took a tour of Paris Gibson Education Center to hear about efforts they are undertaking to get kids to graduation, which is fitting since she’s once again pitching legislation to raise the dropout age in Montana from 16 to 18. The measure failed in the 2011 session, but Juneau said she hopes more people are on board since her Graduation Matters initiative launched two years ago.
