Missoula-based Washington Foundation makes $160K in holiday donations throughout Montana

It’s a busy, happy week for Mike Halligan.

The executive director of the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation http://www.dpwfoundation.org/ spent the past couple of days delivering checks to food banks, pantries, rescue missions and homeless shelters in the area.

More monetary donations were mailed Monday to distribution centers and networks around the state. Some 70 of them will receive a whopping $160,000 for the second holiday season in a row.

The recipients are spread across the state, Halligan said Tuesday, on Indian reservations and other communities small and large.

"If they’ve got a pantry or something, we try to make sure they’re spread around so that we hit the most people geographically," he said.
