Missoula Economic Partnership, council discuss airlines, jobs, manufacturing

Touting economic development to Missoula City Council members, the head of the Missoula Economic Partnership http://www.missoulaworks.org/ said Wednesday that a company manufacturing aluminum trailers had just signed a lease that would bring jobs to the Missoula area.

James Grunke, chief executive officer, said ALCOM Inc., was coming to the former Stimson mill site in Bonner to make "toys for boys," and it was one of many different businesses MEP has been meeting with and talking to in its recruitment efforts. (See related story.)

MEP is a public-private partnership that formed out of Mayor John Engen’s 2010 economic development initiative, the Best Place Project. The city of Missoula is one of the largest investors and contributes $100,000 a year to the group; MEP’s annual budget is an estimated $640,000.
