Frenchtown, Montana mill site owner won’t use money from redevelopment grant

M2Green http://greeninvgroup.com/ has decided not to use a $21,000 grant awarded last year to help fund a development feasibility study at the old Smurfit-Stone Container mill site.

The contract for the Big Sky Trust Fund grant was terminated last week at the request of the company, said Marissa Kozel, Montana Department of Commerce communications director.

The grant was awarded in November 2011 to the Bitter Root Economic Development District on behalf of M2Green, the company that owns the site of Frenchtown’s former pulp mill. It would have helped fund the feasibility study portion of a larger redevelopment plan, providing information on what industries would best fit the site.
