Portland startup Little Bird raises $1 million from Mark Cuban, Wieden+Kennedy and others

Marshall Kirkpatrick has never met Mark Cuban, never talked to him on the phone, and he had never seen him on ABC’s "Shark Tank."

But it didn’t take a conversation, or a guest appearance on Cuban’s TV show, to persuade the Dallas Mavericks’ owner to invest in Kirkpatrick’s Portland startup, Little Bird.

The 11-month-old company said Friday that it’s landed $1 million in backing from Cuban and other investors, including Portland ad firm Wieden+Kennedy.
