Proposed Missoula College building faces resistance

"We will stop at nothing to keep them from building here," Reimers said. "I will camp outside of the legislators’ offices if necessary, and so will a lot of other people. If that doesn’t work, we’ve got a list of legal actions we’ll look to take."

Emotions were high at the University of Montana Golf Course Clubhouse Wednesday evening as citizens, students and administrators gathered to discuss the University’s proposed plan to build a $47 million facility for the Missoula College on the South Campus.

Most agreed that a new campus is necessary, but the potential demolition of the golf course raised strong opposition from some members of the community.

Both the University and the Montana Board of Regents have listed the expansion of the Missoula College — formerly known as the College of Technology — as the top funding priority of the 2013 legislative session.
