Most female employees in the United States are guaranteed as many as 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act.

Much less broadcast is the reality for business owners, who must improvise, catching a few days or weeks away and continuing to connect with the business from home while sleep-deprived and still recovering.
