Senator Baucus Touts New High Tech Opportunity at University of Montana

Senator: "New Educational Opportunities Key to Montana Jobs for the Future"

Montana’s senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus applauded the news today that the University of Montana will be offering a new IBM InfoSphere Streams course this fall. Baucus worked with partners at the Missoula Economic Partnership, the City of Missoula, TerraEchos, Inc., and the University of Montana, to help bring this unique opportunity to Montana.

"New educational opportunities like this are key to Montana jobs for the future. Montana students have a world class work ethic and this unique opportunity will help them launch our economy to a new level," said Baucus. "This is an exciting opportunity for our state to remain on the cutting edge of the technology."

The course is designed to train students to create new businesses and/or land good-paying jobs in Big Data Analytics – one of the fastest growing technology sectors. The University of Montana will be the first university in the world to teach IBM’s InfoSphere Streams as an undergraduate course, giving Montana graduates of this course a very competitive edge.
