MAPS Media Institute receives $10,000 grant from Century Link

The summer participants of the MAPS Media Institute http://www.mapsmediainstitute.com/ were bustling about Tuesday afternoon testing lights and cameras, creating sets, making sure the sound worked and they were finally filming. They had so much to do, in fact, that they had very little time to accept a $10,000 check from Century Link http://www.centurylink.com .

The grant was given to MAPS through the electronic communication provider’s Clark Williams Fund. Five other groups across the state were also awarded money.

"The general trend of the organizations was youth development, leadership in the community and education-focused," said John Bemis, market development manager for Montana’s Century Link.

MAPS has all of those things, he said.

"It draws out the creativity of the students, prepares them for the future and it keeps them engaged," Bemis said.
