Students Work With Industry Professionals In New Venture Capital Fund For Uw Startups

A newly formed, private venture-capital fund is giving UW students a taste of real-world venture-capital investing, or providing money to small businesses that have projected long-term success.

The W Fund http://www.thewfund.com/ launched June 20 with $20 million to invest in university startup companies coming from research institutions across Washington state. Fifteen students now serve as Student Venture Associates of the fund and help give input to its committee of venture-capital professionals about small businesses to potentially invest in.
