Big Sky Economic Development Trust Fund (BSTF) Program Updates for FY13

The beginning of a new fiscal year brings changes and improvements to the BSTF program materials and website for FY13!

Updated Website & New Guidelines – Included in these changes are new guidelines with a streamlined application process with less required attachments.

E-Learning Presentations are available on the BSTF website that can assist you with the process of applying for BSTF funds and also assist with managing a project once a BSTF award is made. These presentations are part of the curriculum for the Department’s most current finance programs certification.

The Big Sky Economic Development Trust Fund Program is a state-funded program designed to aid in the development of good paying jobs for Montana residents and promote long-term, stable economic growth in Montana. The BSTF program is designed to provide financial assistance in the following two categories:

Category I: Economic Development Job Creation Projects 75% of BSTF earnings shall be awarded to local and tribal governments to assist businesses in creating net new eligible jobs that pay the average county wage, excluding benefits. Applications will be accepted on an open-cycle basis until all available funds are committed to approved projects.

Category II: Planning Grants 25% of BSTF earnings shall be awarded to Certified Regional Development Corporations (CRDC), tribal governments and other qualified economic development organizations in areas not covered by a CRDC, for planning activities.

NEW–Applications will be accepted on an open-cycle basis until all available funds are committed to approved projects.
