Hiring at the Student Assistance Foundation subsidiary on hold after loan servicing contract delayed

Bear Paw Development Corporation is a private non-profit organization created for the purpose of administering programs to help improve regional economic conditions in Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau and Phillips Counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy's Indian Reservations.

The Student Assistance Foundation’s http://www.safmt.org/ subsidiary, Tru Student Inc. http://www.trustudent.com/ , received word last week that a contract to service federally held student loans has been delayed.

Tru Student is expected to make up for business lost in 2010 when Congress eliminated the Federal Family Education Loan Program, under which SAF serviced federally guaranteed loans. The Tru Student could prompt the hiring of 100 new employees, mostly for customer service jobs helping counsel borrowers, officials have said. To date, 30 new employees have been hired.
