Senator Baucus Promotes Montana Tourism with Yellowstone Park Tour and Roundtable with Montana Tourism Industry

Montana’s senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus wrapped up his 2012 Ambassadors Tour this weekend by leading the Ambassadors on a tour through Yellowstone National Park and hosting a roundtable discussion with the Montana tourism industry.

"Montana’s beauty and quality of life are a big part of what makes our state such a great place to do business, and the tourism industry is a huge driver of Montana jobs. We’re going to make sure these guys keep coming back – with money to spend and friends and family in tow – by showing them some good, old-fashioned Montana hospitality," Baucus said. "Our biggest draw is our people and I’m excited to help Montana tourism industry leaders make direct connections that will bring more money and more jobs into our state."

* Tourism accounted for $2.3 billion of Montana’s GDP in 2010.

* 10.5 million tourists came through Montana in 2011, generating approximately $150 million in state and local tax revenue for Montana, and supporting 19,000 jobs.

* Baucus recently announced http://www.baucus.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=996 a tourism- focused trade mission to Canada that will kick off in the fall.
