State of Idaho could strengthen role in Idaho National lab

The head of Idaho National Laboratory http://www.inl.gov is reaching out to top Idaho leaders in an effort to strengthen the relationship between Idaho and the sprawling research facility in the eastern Idaho desert.

INL Director John Grossenbacher said he’s even approached Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter about the state taking an unprecedented ownership stake in the complex, a move he said would bolster partnerships and collaboration between the lab and government agencies.

"I have been an advocate for a long time of a much closer relationship between the federal government and the state relative to INL," Grossenbacher told the Post-Register in a story published May 19.
