Montana Students Follow Historic Mount Everest Climb

Breathing only through a straw, grade school students carrying heavy backpacks tried running up and down flights of stairs at St. Matthew’s School recently. That’s almost what it’s like for the group of Montanans currently hiking the world’s tallest mountain.

Vicarious mountaineers: Local students following Mount Everest climbing expedition online

Daly Elementary School in Hamilton and Victor School students have joined more than 1,000 children across the state as they follow the 2012 Mount Everest Expedition. Both schools were awarded special kits containing lesson plans, gear and information that use the expedition as a way to enhance science classes.
